Wayne Findlay is a founder and Director of Findlay & Co. He graduated from Otago University in 1993, working both for the IRD and in an accounting practice before buying a small block of fees and starting his own practice in 2002.

Wayne is a Chartered Accountant and Business Advisor to clients in Wanaka, Queenstown, Central Otago, Christchurch and overseas. He is a forward-thinker with a big vision and enthusiasm for innovation. With a passion for information technology ,Wayne likes to explore new software and technology and drives the adoption of technology for the firm and for our clients. He has a special interest in cloud computing, and has a comprehensive understanding of the smart tools available to assist clients in driving their business growth and efficiency. Wayne’s ability to think outside of the square means that he is able to advise beyond just tax and accounting compliance. He can give you guidance on buying and selling businesses, reaching goals, restructuring businesses and strategic planning, and all in plain English.

A family man, Wayne imparts his love of the outdoors and sport on his two children and is often seen going to work on his bike – preferring Lycra to a suit!

Scott is Chartered Accountant and Director of Findlay & Co Chartered Accountants.

Scott graduated from Otago University in 1992 and after working in corporate accounting, joined the practice in 2004.

Scott is a highly skilled advisor who can assist you with business planning, profit improvement and human resources. He has a wealth of experience in the corporate accounting and business management field. Scott is admired for his sincere approach to helping clients understand their business. Scott is easy to talk to and passionate about streamlining his customers systems, driving profit and helping his clients to reach their goals.

He genuinely cares for the people and businesses that he works with. Scott is father and husband with a sporty family and spends loads of weekends at swim meets, on the cricket field and coaching rugby, as well as finding time to play squash himself. He has a devilish sense of humour and is an advocate of political incorrectness. He attacks sport and business with determination and a touch of good-natured competitiveness. Scott is an ultra-friendly down to earth Southland man.

Phillippa is a Chartered Accountant and senior member of the Findlay & Co team. Her strengths uphold the Findlay & Co philosophy to ‘Keep it Simple’. At Findlay and Co she is responsible for preparing management accounts and reports. She is able to set up smart systems to help clients manage their accounting easily. Phillippa has long-term clients in her portfolio that she has worked with for many years; she has knowledge of their businesses and has built strong client relationships. Phillippa is known for her friendly yet meticulous nature when it comes to accounting.

Phillippa is a driven woman who attacks accounting and triathlons with passion. A mother and a multi-sporter, Phillippa is a straight shooter and a logical smart thinker. Phillippa is a smart cookie and an amazing goal achiever.

Margaret is the Business Manager at Findlay & Co. She is a highly professional and effective businesswoman with over 20 years of management and administration experience.

Marg has played an integral role in the strategic direction and success of the firm. She is passionate about leading staff to achieve their best performance as well as managing operations in a manner that aligns with the high level goals of the organisation. Her role includes workflow management, marketing, reporting, HR, strategic planning and business development.

Margaret carries out her role with determination and is logical and organised.

 


Sam Gordon

Client Manager

Sam is an experienced accountant with a systematic, calm approach. He has a professional nature and is precise with his work and clients. Sam’s accounting experience is in company accounting and our clients enjoy working with him as he keeps it simple and as such, is an advocate for the Findlay and Co philosophy. Being reliable, generous and logical, Sam is a huge asset to the team of accountants at Findlay and Co.

Sam came to Wanaka from Oamaru in 2003 and has become an embedded member of the Wanaka community. He was the Secretary of the local Lions Club, and is currently a Board Member. He is frequently involved locally working on various community projects and fundraisers.

Sam is modest, has a gentle nature and works well alongside this great bunch of women.

Lisa is our new Client Manager in Queenstown. Alongside Wayne and Scott, Lisa looks after our many and varied Queenstown clients which include tradies, travel agencies, rental agencies, doctors, not-for-profits, and many others.

Lisa has a strong background in accounting with qualifications from Otago University and extensive experience with various Chartered Accounting firms, plus a long stint at Spark in Wellington. But Lisa’s not just about numbers, her main strength is supporting clients as a business advisor with forward planning and budgeting.

Lisa’s farming background has stood her in good stead, and our clients appreciate her genuine, friendly, helpful and down to earth attitude.

The Queenstown office is based at Frankton Junction and is open Monday-Thursday from 9am-3pm but we’re happy to help via email and phone outside of these times. You can email Lisa directly, or contact our head office team.

Reception and administration

Michelle is the friendly face and voice of Findlay & Co. Michelle manages the administration side of our business.

Our clients are met by this bright young lady who is efficient, organised and has a sparkle about her.   Michelle is one multi-talented, multi-tasking woman!  She is a stickler for getting things done accurately and on time, and a huge asset to our business.


Angila Lourie

As luck would have it, Angila Lourie decided on a major life change a few months ago and moved away from her Finance Management job in an iron-ore mine in Western Australia to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life and join her partner here in Wanaka. She joined the Findlay & Co team to work in Reception and Administration in early 2016, covering maternity leave for Michelle.

Angila loves organisation! She thrives on the diverse nature of job which covers answering phone calls, accounts reconciliation, office administration and acting as personal assistant to Wayne & Scott.

Being an outdoor enthusiast with a love of mountain and lake sports, living in Wanaka suits Angila well! When she’s not wake-boarding or snowboarding, she will probably be at the gym (did we mention she also used to be a personal trainer?) or running.


Veronique Grenier

Veronique is our Client Relationship Manager and looks after on-boarding of new clients as well as working with existing clients, a job that she has taken to with relish!

An ex-pat French Canadian, Veronique came to New Zealand for a working holiday, but fell in love with Wanaka, and decided to stay permanently.

Veronique’s list of talents and interests is dazzling! It includes linguists, travel, cross-country skiing, yoga, tramping, creative writing and reading.  She has worked in speech therapy, hospitality, translation, and as a nanny! But perhaps what stands out the most about Veronique, and a common thread amongst all of this, is her strength in building relationships. Which is exactly why she is a great fit in the Findlay & Co team.

Client Services Assistant

Joss has joined the Findlay and Co team and brings with her administration mastery, 17 years of banking world experience with the BNZ and highly tuned Mum skills, all of which require a measure of juggling, prioritising and multi-tasking acumen. These skills fit nicely with her role at Findlay and Co as Joss works closely with our clients to ensure information and systems are up to date and organised. Joss has a wealth of experience in customer service, a keen eye for detail and is brilliant and prioritising tasks and handling a heavy workload.

Joss is 15 years a Wanaka local. She meets the prerequisite with a love for the outdoors, mountain biking, fishing and water skiing. She lives in Albert Town with her husband and son. Joss enjoys learning new skills and finds the varied nature of the work interesting at Findlay and Co.


Anna Jopp

Anna is the new accountant on the block at Findlay and Co. She brings with her worldly corporate accounting experience gained during a stint in the UK and also chartered accounting experience gained a little bit closer to home in her most recent role in Dunedin. Anna is highly proficient in financial accounting, including the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including cash flows and forecasts and preparation of Income Tax, GST and FBT returns. Her skills in the analysis and interpretation of financial and non-financial data are a huge asset to our team.

Anna is a Chartered Accountant who has migrated to Wanaka to join the Findlay and Co team and also to enjoy the lifestyle the town offers. She is fond of Central Otago as a chunk of her childhood was spent growing up on a farm outside of Alexandra. She is looking forward to enjoying running, biking and skiing here and becoming part of the Wanaka community.

Anna says the best part about being a Chartered Accountant is talking to clients from different backgrounds and learning about a variety of businesses and industries.
